THE HIPPIE CHICK IS E-READING
I never thought I'd EVER do this, I always said I prefer the feel and smell of "real" paper books. But after purchasing and reading the 6th. new book in a series I changed my mind.
I absolutely love the series "Clan of the Cave Bear" by Jean M. Auel, and the newest addition came out not long ago. I read in bed every night, and with some arthritis combined with fibromyalgia combined with tendonitis, I have trouble holding onto heavy books without some hurting going on. So..... I only get paperbacks.
When I went to purchase the paperback for this new book, it only came in a LARGE size paperback, quite heavy with many pages. I read through the whole thing and enjoyed it, but nightly I had trouble with my hands and wrists because the book was so heavy.
THAT, my freinds, is what finally made my mind up about getting an e-Reader. Sis Pammie was also thinking of getting one, so we went shopping the other night and both got the Kobo "Touch". We compared to Sony and others, but this is the one we both preferred for size and weight. So far I've loaded 7 books into it and I love it!
The cover I chose (red leather, red being my favourite colour) has a built in reading light for night reading. And that same night, we stopped at a library to pay $12 for a yearly fee, so now we can even load books into our e-Readers from there. Groovy coolness!
Even an old leopard can change her spots, apparently.
Call me "updated", with my Kobo e-Reader and my Smartphone. Holy heck.
I hope you are all doing well, take good care of each other!
PEACE!

I've read all of Jean Auel's books over the years and loved them but like you say, they are big books. I like your E-Reader and have thought of getting one. For now I'm having fun playing "Angry Birds" on my new phone.
Take care and hope you have a great weekend!
Another Jean Auel fan! Have fun with Angry Birds Bobbie, and have a fabulous weekend!
Got me a Nook Tablet for Christmas and totally love it. I've downloaded a crapload of books to it now I just need to read them all!
You need a vacation on a beach somewhere with a towel and your Nook. No distractions allowed.
Well..... except for Ellen. :-)
Welcome to the Gadget world! Glad that your enjoying your E-Book Reader. If you get tired of that look at audible.com you can get audio books. What won't they think of next?
Smartphones are the in thing right now. Try to find a only a basic cell phone, they are pretty rare.
Take care. :)
Yeah I know, hubby just went cell phone shopping and managed to find a flip-open phone!
Have a good weekend Jer!
I have two Sony ereaders and since last summer a Kindle. One thing I don't do is buy new first edition books as they are (I feel) too high priced considering the savings on not printing them and the cost of distribution, plus that you really can't share or trade them. For that type book, I'll wait until Costco has the paperback edition. But there are a lot of free and low cost books out there for all ereaders and many of them are quite good. I may also try the library method for those newer books.
Absolutely Dick, I have my library card, and there are TONS of free books out there for eReaders. At the very least, you can get tons of them for $2 or $3 and that's still a bargain.
Bon tardi! So happy you're enjoying your nifty little reading toy! Reading is best when one isn't allowed to enjoy the outdoors due to the weather. Hope you've enjoyed a fab and relaxing weekend! xoxo
My weekend was good Xavier, and I hope yours was too! Love you! xox
