SNOW MOLD

So for those of you who have never heard of, or seen, snow mold....... here it is.

This is out front, a shot of just a small part of it:

My close up:

Sister Pammie got an even more detailed shot with her new camera:

Pretty GROSS, huh?

And being spring weather, you just never know what Mother Nature has in store. I ran outside with my camera this morning to capture this:

Hah!! Fickle Spring! An hour later.......

Happy Spring everyone! LOL

My dentist appointment yesterday was a breeze. Just a cleaning and check, and nothing that needs any work done. Yay! Getting my teeth cleaned is something I love, and I could actually fall asleep it's quite relaxing. That is, if she didn't talk to me so much throughout it all. ;-)

Have a great weekend, and take good care of each other!

DR. DRILLYA

Well it's been 6 months, so tomorrow (Friday) I'm off to see that dreaded of all professionals...... THE DENTIST. **shivers** Actually it's just for my twice yearly clean and check, and unless he finds something that should do it for another half a year. Dr. I.L. Drillya is walking distance from my home and seeing as the spring weather is upon us, it should be a pleasant jaunt there and back. The back alley, which has been a nightmare of ruts of ice, has at least half melted away and is now safer to walk down.

It was a rather emotional last week at work, our Insurance manager is retiring and tomorrow is her last day. I really like her, she's my age and just newly widowed. She's a great person and will be sorely missed in our office. Of course we're all worrying over who will replace her now, and hoping it'll be someone as nice as Gail was.

Also, my own manager (and friend) has been away all week, staying at the Stollery Children's hospital with her 6 yr. old son. He developed severe stomach pain and when she took him last weekend to the hospital they admitted him when they discovered his blood pressure was through the roof. We're all worried sick about the little guy, and praying hard for him. So far they cannot find the cause of all this, and daily they just keep doing rounds of tests, ruling out some of the possibilities. I think at this point they're suspecting a virus of some sort might be causing the stomach pain and high blood pressure. Hopefully the cause will be found very soon, and an easy "fix" for him. Meanwhile, we're all deeply concerned.

On the homefront, my "bad pain days" have become a thing of the past (last week) and I'm feeling much better. I haven't taken any pain meds at night for several days now! WooHoo! I realize that with arthritis it can flare up, so I know I'm not out of the woods completely, but hopefully with time the Glucosamine will start to help, and if not that, then perhaps Shark Cartilage or something. Anything to keep me from having to take pain meds so often. I'll keep ya posted!

That's about it at my end of cyber space, I'll check in on all your blogs and see what's up. I hope you all have a good weekend, take good care of each other and until next time.........

PEACE!

THE EMERGENCE OF LAWN

I'm back, if only in short spurts. The arm is feeling better than it was (actually this means that now both arms are involved) but it aggravates it to be using the keyboard and mouse too much. I'll be heading back to the doc for pain management and whatever else he can do to help, if this isn't gone in a couple of days or so.

And as spring officially arrived this past week, so has our front lawn. I really love the soft spring sunshine in the mornings, and early this morning I enjoyed the light outside and inside:

It's been fun to watch the progression of snow melt here, as the weather changes. With this new blogger, clicking on the pictures takes you to a larger size I believe?

A week ago:

A few days later it decided to snow a bit as a last gasp:

And then by yesterday not much left:

.......and hubby decided to shovel some of that into the spot under the blue spruce, to give the 3 young bushes under there some moisture:

And by the next day (today) this is all that's left, it's pretty much gone out front now:

Now you can see both flower beds, and just a couple of weeks ago they were completely buried under FEET of snow!

***UPDATE***

Just got home from getting groceries and took this shot. The snow is all gone out front now, and I wanted to show you something. See the shiny whitish sheen over much of the lawn? That's not snow, it's SNOW MOLD. Some of you may have never heard of it but it's a fact. Some people are really allergic to this stuff. I was looking at it up close and it looks exactly like you'd expect mold to look like. Yech. When we get some spring rain and rake the yard it'll be gone.

Anyway I'm going to finish putting groceries away and then get some R&R. I wish you all a great week, I'll catch you soon! Take good care of each other........

PEACE!

SORRY FOLKS

Sorry I've been lacking in posts, don't know if it's Arthritis or what but my right arm hurts so #@!* much it hurts to type. It hurts to sit, stand, walk or lay down too. And the ibuprofen isn't touching it.

Anyhoo I get on sporadically here to try keeping caught up on emails etc. but that's about all I can do for the moment.

Take good care of each other and I'll catch ya soon,

3 DOWN, 3 TO GO

'Morning, chicks and dudes!

Well another family birthday party has sucessfully been held and is over. Sister Pammie had a birthday on Friday and I had her party here last night.

We had a total of 9 people around the dinner table, and thank God we got a new dining room set last year, with a leaf in the table. Steak, roast potatoes, corn, coleslaw, buns, chicken, cake and ice cream. Ice cream was French Vanilla, and so was the cake with whipped Milk Chocolate frosting. Sister Brenda supplied the ice cream, coleslaw, buns and chicken. And I did the rest.
Fun was had by all. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAMMIE! **hearts** Thank you everyone for all the wishes for her already extended.

So now that's 3 down: sister Brenda and my hubby in February, and Pammie's in March. All that's left now are mine next month, bro-in-law Rory's in September, and sister Linda's in December.

It seems the weather this winter and spring has been wonky world wide. All of our sunny warm days and melting snow just took a back seat for a few days. It's colder and windy now, and I think we're even supposed to get a little more snow flurries but we'll see. Today I'm off for groceries and with the chilly wind I'd much rather just stay at home, but what can a gal do? We gotta eat, damn.

Anyhoo I'm off and running as I need to get ready to go. Just one last parting birthday picture; I love these Dollar Store candles I got that have different colour flames as they burn. Groovy stuff!! It's almost psychedelic, man!

Have a great week, and take good care of each other.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

But only in a few places can we see grass under all those snowbanks yet!

It's another sunny warm spring day. Out front you can now see part of a flower bed that has been buried under feet of snow since October.

And out back you can still hear the "water fountain" sounds of the snow melt dripping off the corner of the garage. And you can see that this corner on the ground is also causing some flooding in that corner inside the garage.

Hubby is going to be doing some fancy schmancy work with some extra gutter drain pipes so that this water is directed elsewhere next spring.

In this close up you can see the water drips hitting the little pool.

'Tis indeed a gorgeous day out there!

I have company coming over in about 2 hours and I've spent the day doing housework. I'm feeding her some tuna melts for dinner and I've got to get that all mixed up and ready to go yet. Yum!

Sorry I've been so scarce this week, it's been a busy one. Hubby and I are both feeling much better and our colds are almost gone. Now we just have the hacking coughs that have been keeping us from much sleep recently, but even the coughing has been slowly improving. I've been SO exhausted from little sleep these past weeks, and last night I couldn't stay awake so went to bed early.

And I did something I haven't done since I was a kid......... I slept straight through for 8 hours!! 8 HOURS!! I'm always lucky if I get 6!

Sister Pammie's birthday is tomorrow and I am going to be getting things done for her birthday party that I'm hosting here on Saturday. We're having steaks. Double Yum!

Okay peeps I am off and running. I wish you all an excellent weekend. Take good care of each other!

PEACE!

STARTING TO MEND

Today's the first day I'm actually starting to see some improvement with this cold of mine. My red-raw nose has finally stopped pretending to me my kitchen taps and my nasal passages don't sting anymore. Now, hubby and I are just having loads of fun keeping each other awake all night hacking and coughing like seals. LOL But, it's getting better, YAY!

What a GORGEOUS day again today. The sun is shining in that big ol' Alberta Blue sky and the snow is slowly melting. I'm home from work today as usual for a Friday, and doing laundry.

Sister Pammie's 2 angel doggies are both getting older. Lady (Bugs) is turning 15 yrs. old tomorrow!! *sob, sniff* As goes with her age, she needs outside a lot more often and frequently doesn't make it through the day anymore when there's nobody home. So, when I am home like today, I'll go down partway through the day and let them both out for a potty run.

While out today with them I grabbed my camera to make a wee video of our backyard "water fountain" and the doggies. Sorry, you'll really have to turn your sound up as my voice doesn't come out very strong with this head cold!

OR CLICK HERE.

I even managed to get through the whole video without hacking up a lung!

Speaking of which, I wasn't so lucky when I had a nice phone chat with my friend TRUCKER BOB this afternoon, the poor guy had to listen to me barking a few times. We're trying to work out how he'll be able to make blog posts on his upcoming trips in his new RV while he's on the road in more remote places like up north. We'll get it figured out Bob..... where there are friends, there are ways!

Back down to the laundry room for me folks, so I'll wish you all a great weekend, and don't forget to take great care of each other!

PEACE!

THE NEW BLOGGER

So far I don't see a whole lot of difference really. Except one thing, which I absolutely hate and it's driving me to drink. I have to "sign in" each and every time I go to my blog. A small thing perhaps to some but to me it's just a royal pain. You sign in and it even gives you the option to "remember me" but it obviously has about as many memory cells as I do!

Some of you still have the blogger band running up on the top of your blog pages, if you want to get rid of it it's a very easy thing to do. Not that it gets in the way on some blog pages, as is the case with Raggedy's Blog. It just sort of blends in and isn't in the way of her own blog header text. But on some, like my own, the blogger band sat right on top of part of my flower and the first line of text "to grow", so I had to get rid of it.

If you want to get rid of yours, all you do is insert a simple code in your template. It won't let me list the code here precisely as it thinks I'm trying to html something, so let me try to explain it. Near the top of your template find where it says "body" which is encased with the < and > tags. Just directly above that put in "noembed" with the < and > tags, and just below "body" put in "/noembed" with the < and > tags. Of course, leave out all the asterisks, I had to put them in here for your benefit. Remember always always always "preview" it first before you change it for good!

That should do it.

Yesterday was the longest day I've ever had to get through at work. I was so sick but as I was there I decided to just hang in and get the whole day in. Last night I just wanted someone to shoot me, I hurt absolutely everywhere. And my nose didn't stop running. Thanks hubby for sharing. *sigh*

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I'm staying home from work today. And Advil Xtra Strength helps tremendously with body aches. And Tylenol Cold Nighttime meds stopped the running nose and helped me to sleep a bit. I just didn't take them at the same time, to be safe. So today I'm having a nap and just taking it easy. At least with the above meds it's not as unbearable to be alive. LOL

Thanks for all your well wishes, by the way. Hubby gets a bad cold every spring, and that's about the same time my autumn flu shot is wearing off. I spend a week or 2 while he's sick washing my hands a gazillion times a day, not using anything he does (towels, coffee spoons etc.) and just generally doing everything I can not to get sick. But when you sleep beside the sick person every night and breathe in the same air it's soooooo hard not to finally succumb. It's only a cold and it'll pass!!

Oh, and I'm almost finished my first bottle of Liquid Glucosamine, and so far it hasn't bothered me in the least. If after a few months I don't notice a difference in pain I'm going to try my buddy Trucker Bob's suggestion of Shark Cartilage. Anyway this stuff sure beats those damn pills I tried.

Well folks I'm off to catch up on some blogs and forums before I head for a nap. Take good care of each other, and have a good Hump Day!

DAMNATION!

This morning blogger forced me to go the new route. I went, but kicking and screaming!

I now have this stupid blogger bar at the top of my blog, complete with a gmail addy in it for all the world to effing see???????? DAMN! Now I have to try and figure out how to get rid of the stupid bar, it's a pain in the ass and is in the way of my header text too!

Can I say it???? Please???

FUCK!!!!!!

***EDIT*** I figured out right away how to get rid of that pain-in-the-ass blogger bar at the top. If anyone else is having trouble getting rid of it, let me know and I'll gladly tell you how. It's ridiculously easy as it turns out. Heh heh

And I now have hubby's damn cold. I'm sicker than a dog. Have to go to work in an hour too, so I'd best get myself ready.

Saturday, March 03, 2007

A sunny weekend, and a day of rest. Gotta love it! I don't have a whole lot to be done today and I'm looking forward to a nice nap in a couple of hours.

Hubby came down with a wicked head cold a few days ago and isn't sleeping well because of it. Consequently, I'M not getting much sleep either. To top that off he's been on some rare evening shifts at work, and doesn't get home until after midnight. When that happens of course I wake up when he comes in to the bedroom. *sigh*

I hope he shakes the cold soon, and I hope I don't get it!

We got a little bit more snow the other day, and he was out there trying to shovel off, or rather "chip away" at an inches high layer of compacted snow and ice on the driveway, out behind the garage on the right.

As he has nowhere left out back to put the snow, he threw it up on top of the already tall pile in the back yard. It's going to take a VERY LONG TIME for all of this to melt in the spring!!

Speaking of which, spring is offically here in only a couple of weeks!

Nothing much for news here folks. I hope you all have a great weekend, and take good care of each other!

PEACE!
