SOMEONE NEEDS US

You are always there for me, all of you, whenever I've asked for support and/or prayers, you're a great bunch of friends! Well I'm asking you all again to lend your support and prayers for a very, very good friend of mine.

You've no doubt seen comments here from one of my blog buddies (in my links), my friend Janna. Sista J. and I go back to the beginning days of my blogging, and she's dear to my heart. She just found out that she has breast cancer.

She's just told her story on her blog, which I'm sure was very hard for her to do as she's not one to easily share her woes. If you would like, please go over to I'm Just Sayin' and let her know you're pulling for her. I know she'd be buoyed up with all the support. Thank you, so much!

Janna, you hang in there. You're going to be okay!

PEACE

HIPPIE CHICK GETS OLDER

Truly, I couldn't care less who knows how old I am. But nobody gets to know my weight! LOL As of tomorrow (Sunday) I am 3 years away from being 60, can you believe that??!!

Yes, 57 years ago tomorrow my Mother gave "sudden" birth to me in the hallway at the hospital, no time to prep her or get her into the delivery room. I guess I must have wanted out NOW and just didn't want to wait. Funnily enough one of my life lessons has been learning patience ever since then! At any rate, she used to tell me how I was the one of her 4 girls who didn't give her any problems or even hurt that much giving birth to. Y'hear that, sisters of mine? I told you I was the best daughter! LOL!!

This weekend won't be the birthday celebration though, as some of the family are immersed in a hugely busy time. So it will be next weekend instead. If I remember correctly I believe it is my niece who has dance recitals this weekend or something like that.

Speaking of her..... we had all boys (grandsons and nephews) in this family and although they are precious too, I always wanted a niece to add to it. Well the very last chance of ever having one happened when my sister Brenda got pregnant for what we all knew was the last time, 12 years ago. Imagine my great joy when my brother-in-law Rory phoned me from the hospital ON MY BIRTHDAY to say, "Happy Birthday, you have a niece!" So she and I celebrate our birthdays on the same day, what a great gift! What makes me feel old is that she is one year away from being a teenager. Lordy!

The "other" Birthday Girl (taken this past Christmas):

Her parents have often told me how she even resembles me sometimes, poor her! LOL

For the last few years I've been hoping that I would be able to take an early retirement at age 60, but with the state of this world financially right now I'm afraid any investments I had are going downhill. It couldn't have happened at a worse time as far as that goes, and I may have to keep working until I'm 65. *sigh* But on the other hand, I'm fortunate to even have a job the way things are.

There IS also a third birthday to celebrate in the next few days too, a fellow blogger buddy who we know as "The Rocker Guy"! Please pop over to Vince's Blog and wish him a Happy Birthday. Tell the old fart him his fellow Taurean Jude sent you!

Have a great weekend everyone, and take good care of each other.

PEACE!

HOPPY EASTER!

We don't really do anything to celebrate Easter, if I had little kids in the family I probably would. But for any of you who do celebrate, my best wishes for a Happy Easter!

Being Good Friday today, everyone is home and my usual "do laundry on Friday" day at home won't be as quiet. Hubby is up this morning sitting in front of a blaring TV, and sister Pammie (who has been very ill with a bad cold and cough) is still sleeping. So I'll have to wait until she's up before I can go down and start my laundry.

Our snow is pretty much gone now as the temperatures have been lovely. This is the time of year that is the "ugliest", when everything is brown and dirty and just awaiting spring rains to clean things up and make the buds pop with light green prettiness. It won't be long now though!

I hope you all have a great weekend. Take good care of each other!

Oh and if you haven't already, please go on over to Stardom Awaits! and cast your vote for your ONE favourite shot in the "Macro Theme photo contest. Voting is open until around the 15th. Thanks!

PEACE!
