"FAITH" PHOTO CONTEST

It's that time again folks! Over at Stardom Awaits! this month's Photo Contest is up and running, and the theme is "Faith". Of course "Faith" isn't limited to religion, it can be many things so this could be very interesting!

You can head over to choose your ONE favourtie photograph and vote for it. The voting will be open for about 2 weeks and then the winner(s) will be announced. Thanks for participating!

These are some of the shots of mine that didn't make the cut. Sometimes I wish we could go with a "no limit" on the quantity, but that would make it even harder for you guys!

WEIRD WEATHER

I swear Ma Nature just doesn't know what she wants to give us for weather this year. Going from highs in the 80's down to the 50's in a couple of days.... then frost every morning for a week..... then cold and snow..... then sun and warmth.

I guess I won't complain though, at least for now it's warmed up and maybe just MAYBE we'll have year 3 in a row without snow for the kiddies on Halloween.

I took some shots of my front yard on Sunday, and I was thinking these could very well be the last ones of the year, before winter sets in.

Leaving work last night, I commented to sister Pammie how at last I can smell the autumn scent of leaves on the ground. I love that smell!

Last week it was so cold and slippery from some snow and ice that I couldn't walk to work and needed a ride (as I do every winter). This week, I'm back to enjoying the walk in.

Through all that frost and some snow, I am surprised that so many of our flowers/plants are still alive. Especially the roses! Perhaps some things are just like me ~ stubborn.

For the second year in a row, our department's managers are taking us out for a Staff Appreciation Night. Last year they took us out for an evening at a dinner theatre (I'd never experienced a live play before) and this year (tonight after work) they're taking us out for dinner and a Murder Mystery night. Should be fun!

Tonight's happening will be taking place at Fort Edmonton Park's old Selkirk Hotel. Last year sister Pammie and I spent a couple of days on a photo shoot at Fort Edmonton Park, and one of the buildings I got a few pictures of is that very same Selkirk Hotel.

I've also never experienced a Murder Mystery "Who Dun It?" before. Most likely it was the butler.....

In other news, I got my root canal early last Thursday morning. I have to go back in a month for the permanent filling. It seems to still be a bit infected, and I'm still on antibiotics for it. Hopefully that will go away soon!

I hope you all have a good week and that your weather is as enjoyable as it is here. Take good care of each other!

PEACE!

ARCHITECTURE WINNERS!

We have a tie folks, congratulations to the winners! Thanks to all the entrants for some really nice photography, it's no wonder people complain it's too hard to choose!

And a huge thank you to all the voters, we appreciate your participation in our fun. Next up will be "Faith", as always at the end of the month.

Stay tuned!

*SIGH*

This was taken this morning from my hot-tub room. Looks like we won't be able to have a third Halloween in a row without snow, what a bummer! Decorating our front yard with gravestones, lanterns etc. just doesn't look the same when not on grass and dead leaves.

This year we seemed to go from late summer to winter. Period. Our leaves have barely changed colours and in most trees they are still full and green. How does it make sense to go from 80's to 50's in a couple of days, and then this a week later? Our highs are now in the mid 30's.

Ah well, when you live in this area of Alberta you never know what you're going to get. Actually, for the past several years it seems almost not matter where you live you don't know for sure what you'll get weather-wise.

In other news, I'm dealing with an infected tooth close to the front of my mouth, and my face is swollen right up to my eye socket. I've been taking antibiotics (and we all know what havoc THEY create in my body!) since Sunday night and it hasn't let up. Neither has the terrible pain, which I can tell when the Advil wears off. Thankfully Advil keeps it at bay enough for me to work during the day or sleep at night.

Suddenly a walk to the dentist is much MUCH colder out there with the wind chill being what it is. I know they can't do much with an infected tooth until the infection is down, but I may have to get myself there anyway because it doesn't seem to be going away even with the evil antibiotics. Oh the joys of NOT having false teeth! LOL

If you haven't already voted, you can participate in the "Architecture" photo contest over at Stardom Awaits! by voting for your favourite shot. Voting is open until mid next week or so. Thanks!

I hope you're staying warm (and green) wherever you are, take good care of each other!

PEACE!
