WINTERY DAYS

Things have been fairly quiet around the Hippie Chick's house of late, especially after the hub-bub of the holidays. It doesn't seem possible that it's already been almost a month since Christmas!

Throughout the holiday season we had the freezing temperatures that my friends out east have been suffering recently. However for the last while it's been absolutely spring-like here, melting snow and sunny warmth. That all changed today though!!

We're back into frosty winds from the north and at some point we're supposed to get more snow. We've only February now to contend with so it won't be too long until spring is upon us.

Already I am noticing that it is getting lighter earlier in the mornings, and darker later at night. It's always so enticing to know that soon coming home from work in the dark will be a thing of the past for another year!

For me, waking up in the daylight seems much more civilized. In the darkness you need to turn lights on for your sleepy eyes to see, and then it's too blinding. But even waking from sleep and opening your eyes in the daylight isn't too bright. It's no wonder I have had hubby put dimmer switches in a lot of our rooms. Especially the bathroom! Nothing like being blinded in there first thing in the morning! Although not being really able to see myself in the mirror directly out of bed is probably a good thing. *snicker*

How are you passing the time this winter? Do you enjoy outdoor activities, or are you more indoors inclined as I am? When the temperatures are warmer and the sun is out, I do like getting out with my camera. And although I haven't for awhile, I also enjoy strolls around the neighbourhood then.

I hope that wherever you are, you are staying warm and not being hit with colds or flu. So far with the help of my annual flu shot I've managed to stay free of any viruses. Take good care of each other, and have a good weekend!

"CHRISTMAS" THEME WINNERS!

Congrats to Tracey for a great runner up shot, and to everyone who entered because there were so many beautiful shots to choose from!

Thank you VOTERS, without you all we would have NO contests so a big round of applause to you!

Stay tuned people, because our next contest is "ARTSY"; this should be fabulously interesting as anything with an "artsy" appeal or tweak to it will be entered. At the end of this month I will post here when it's ready for voting!

**********************************************************************

We've lost our "in the deep freeze" cold spell that we had over Christmas but it seems that the Arctic has decided to send it out east instead. I hope all of you out there are staying warm. Hang in there, only another 6 weeks or so and it will be March! We may get snow but the colder temperatures will be gone by then and spring will be in the air.

We've gotten a lot more snow over the last week or so, but still nothing near any record setting amounts. It's nice to see the sunshine again in the last few days!

I'm off to pour my first cup of coffee for the morning and then get laundry on the go. Have yourselves a great weekend, and take good care of each other!

PEACE!

GREAT NEWS! THANK YOU GOD!

My sister Brenda went yesterday for her long awaited post-surgery consultation with her Oncologist. What is so fabulous I almost cried, is that she needs no further treatment! I simply cannot thank all of you enough for so graciously adding your good thoughts and prayers to those of our frantic family.

THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart.

She is still having some drainage issues and cannot go back to work yet, but hopefully that will clear up given a bit more time. She's alive and well and cancer-friggin'-free and that's GROOVY!

Speaking of sisters, our oldest sister Linda (older than me by one year) is here visiting on her Christmas vacation. She always stays out at Brenda's as they have the big house with extra bedrooms etc. Here, we can't even find enough floor space to put a piece of foam down for her. Anyway, we always get to see her a few times while she's here but due to Brenda finding it a bit hard driving (Linda and I don't drive at all) and bad roads from a lot of recent snow, we haven't seen her very much. She's going back home this weekend so hopefully we can get out there Saturday!

And in other less exciting but still cool news....... suck me dry and call me Dusty! I never heard of this site, but I got this in my email today:

Dear Jude,

Our editors recently reviewed your blog and have given it a 7.2 score out of (10) in the Personal Blogs category of Blogged.com.

This is quite an achievement!

We evaluated your blog based on the following criteria: Frequency of Updates, Relevance of Content, Site Design, and Writing Style.

After carefully reviewing each of these criteria, your site was given its 7.2 score.

So did they just "find" me randomly or did one of my readers tell on me? LOL

I put the links up (I was supposed to, part of the deal I guess) in my sidebar, but before I get too excited I must tell you that 7.2 is "very good" but there are gazillions of blogs in the 9.something ratings at "Excellent". Still, it's nice to be acknowledged, eh wot?

Speaking of blogs, if you wish to participate and haven't yet, go to Stardom Awaits! to place your vote for this month's Photo Contest. The theme is "Christmas" and there are some terrific shots from our entrants! The voting will be up and running for about another week or so.

I hope the New Year has started off on a positive foot for each of you, at the very least in some small way. Have a good weekend folks, and please remember to take good care of each other. Love is where it's at!

PEACE!
