RAIN AND SUN, SHOWERS AND SUNFLOWERS
We are still trying to get used to a home empty of 2 very much loved pets who left this world within 5 short months of each other. We're getting there, it's not as it was at first and now we have sadness and some days that are better than others.
It's really the same as losing a beloved human: you feel shock, anger (why them??), grief, acceptance and sadness. Losing loved ones is never an easy path to travel, and the only way back out into the sunshine is to walk through the darkness first.
This is what the title of my blog has always been about. Us humans need both joy and pain, sun and rain; to grow and to live life fully.
We are going to be okay, even though we will always miss those 2 sweet and gentle little girls. In my life I have discovered that for every death there is almost always new life.
No sooner did we dry some tears and out came the sun along with some very warm weather, and now we have new life in the name of Spring. Although today we have a cooler and cloudy day, the evidence of sunny warm weather for the last while is showing up on my trees and bushes outside. Soon, I'll be smelling the delicious aroma from the flowers of lilacs, pear, plum and cherry trees.
In reality, we had a very dry spring as our snowfall this past winter was lighter than usual. We're in for drought conditions here this summer if we don't get some much needed precipitation, and at the threshold of May we have only had a few drops of rain which happened today. The warning is that the Canadian prairies could be in for a very hot and dry summer. That means stunted growth for plants and trees, hoards of grasshoppers (they are GROSS when they are at their peak quantities), and heat exhaustion sickness for this ol' hippie chick.
I'm thinking of doing naked rain dances on my front lawn.
My poor neighbours. They may not like it but hey if it saves their greenery....
Really, I do love living where there are 4 very distinct seasons and I can't really complain. I miss the winter when the insects start a'buzzing, but I miss something about every season once it's gone for another year. Right now I'm really looking forward to summer flowers and the colourful gardens.
Ah yes.... Life. It brings us some rain, for certain. But it also brings us a lot of sunshine. :-)
I do hope that you are all in for a sunny and warm weekend wherever you are. Take good care of each other, we're all that we have!
PEACE!
Love Jude
