VICTORIA INTERVIEWS THE HIPPIE CHICK

It has been a very busy week at my house ~ as hubby does some inside things (we're doing some renovating) and makes messes, I follow behind him TRYING to keep up with cleaning up the messes. More to come though, much, much more. Yech and Bleh! It will be lovely when it's all done, I tell ya. Next weekend (not this one) my brother in law and his two older boys (18 and 20 I believe?) will be coming out here to help hubby re-shingle our roof. It's gonna be one noisy and busy weekend. I think I should pack a bag and spend that weekend at the Keep Your Sanity Spa and Inn. If only!

Lately there are a lot of memes, quizzes, questionnaires etc. going on in the blogs, and I promise I won't keep doing nothing but those ~ but in the meantime ...........

A fellow blogger, Vickie, put this idea out and when she was interviewed on her blog, I rather liked the way I got to see another personal side of her. I agreed that this might be a nice thing to do on here, as it allows others an opportunity to learn something different about the personal life and personality, beliefs etc. of the person on the other end of the blog. So here we go, I had no input into the questions, just so you know, and I'd like to thank Vickie for this opportunity for some more fun and friendship!

Hello Jude,Thank you so much for wanting to play along and allowing me the opportunity to ask a few questions so I and others like myself just might get to know you better.

Victoria: 1. Crayons are one of children's favorite items to play with currently the company makes more than 120 different crayon colors as well as an array of materials to stimulate children's creative development offering products that sparkle with glitter, glow in the dark, smell like flowers, change colors and even wash off walls and other surfaces and materials. You have just been contacted by them and asked to produce a new product, please describe the new product you would develop in detail and name it please. Make certain to name this new product.

Jude: I think it would be wonderful to see something along the lines of a game that teaches manners to young ones. I'm talking things like learning courtesy and sharing. Perhaps this game would involve "what should you say if....." items and the child gets to move ahead in the game when they say the correct thing, like "please" or "thank you" or "excuse me please". It would also have examples of "what should you do if....." and the examples would be about bullies and strangers, to teach them safety. The game would definitely involve children of different race and colour in the pictures. I would perhaps call the game "Teach Me!"

Victoria: 2. Since you are from Canada and I am from the USA, I would like to hear from you what is your opinion of the USA and our invasion of Iraq? Does your opinion differ from the minority or is it the same?

Jude: The first part of this question is easy ~ I have American friendships and I don't find them any different than my Canadian ones, I cherish them all! I've visited the U.S. many times over the years and have always enjoyed my stays there and found everyone to be friendly and pretty much the same as people from Canada. I consider our neighbours to the south great people. The second part of the question took some thought. I am NOT a political person in any way, shape or form. It doesn't matter to me what the country, whether Canada, the U.S. or anywhere else..... every country has leaders that aren't always popular, and I may disagree with some aspects of their leadership, and like others. That subject, and the invasion of Iraq or any other potentially controversial political subject, is just something I don't wish to get into. But I will say that most of you already know my views on World Peace and human rights issues. Those human rights issues don't just mean gay rights for me, but extend to women's rights, children's protection, and basic human rights all over the world as well. It is difficult to know that a country's leadership represses it's people, abuses it's women and children and gives them no rights at all. For another country to step up to the plate to go in and help them by toppling the reigning power has humanitarian implications, but the way things are done and the entire agenda has meaning too. It's a touchy subject. I certainly don't ever wish to alienate any friends by being EITHER for or against a political figure, that's not where my heart is in any of it anyway. I believe that one of my jobs on this earth is to do my part by prayer and positive thought, and quietly planting seeds of hope, healing and example. That is a huge part of who I am and what I do. I just can't do any better than that.

Victoria: 3. You have just been notified that money is no longer an issue in your life how would this change your life and what type of changes would it bring about. Please describe them in detail.

Jude: Oh my, this would indeed be a wonderful thing! I'm positive that my answer to this question wouldn't be very different from most people I know! The very first thing I would do would be to make sure that my family would never want for anything, I'd share the wealth with them. I think then I'd take them all with me on a lovely trip somewhere (like England?) to enjoy ourselves on a visit there while I decided what to do with the rest of the money. For sure I'd do the obvious things, like pay off bills and buy a new home, and I would be able to retire from working. But also I'd give to some of my favourite charities, and travel a little, maybe once a year or so. Some of you know that I teach meditation, healing and clairvoyance. I have had training, of course, but one of the things I would love to do is visit the Spiritualist Churches in England, there are more of them there, and that is the Church, the Faith, that I belong to. I would persue further training in those churches in order to better the training I give here. It is all for the common purpose of helping others in need, and teaching others to help even more people in need. I have always said that I'd do volunteer work to give back to the world, and there would be a few things I'd like to get involved in. So, to answer the question, it wouldn't change ME ~ the person that I am, but it would bring about many changes in my life in regards to what I can do to help loved ones and charities. And.....of course I'd worry about finances less, so I'd be more relaxed!

Victoria: 4. You have encountered people who have left an impression on you and have lead to you making some changes in your life. Who would you say is the one person other than a family member who has made the biggest impact on your life and why.

Jude: Wow, that's a good one. There have been several people in my life that have had such positive influences on me....but seriously, I'd have to say the one who impacted my life the most, would be my late husband. It was 10 years ago that he suddenly passed away, and I have since remarried and I love my husband. But even though one can and does move on and build another life; it does not mean that your past is just wiped out, and that you stop loving the ones who have left you behind. Fortunately for me, my husband understands that, and when we were first together, he wanted to know all about Gary, and what kind of person he was. I have, as I said, moved on and built another life ~ but I won't ever lose the love that I had for my late husband, nor will I ever feel that he isn't a part of my life in it's entirety. To answer the question: when Gary passed away, I honestly didn't believe I could ever carry on, and at first I didn't really want to, it was that painful. But after some time went by and I found acceptance and healing, I began to understand that Gary's passing was the beginning of my spiritual journey, one that will never end, and I'm grateful for it. Gary actually gave me a gift in his passing ~ many gifts in fact, and these things are something I thank him for almost daily, and will continue to do so for the rest of my lifetime here. He was a spiritually and emotionally strong man ~ and I found that taught me to find those same things in myself, using him as an example. He was extremely funny ~ and I soon found myself leaning on that and found my own humour again through it all. There are many things, as I said, but those are two excellent examples. He impacted my life tremendously while he was here with me, and it continues to be so since he has left. And of course, combine all of that with my faith, and with family and friends, and I've had a TON of positive influence in my life. I am very, very blessed.

Victoria: 5. What emotion do you find you have the most problem with and why do you consider it an issue for you. How can you work on correcting this or do you really want to?

Jude: Oh my, that's not as easy a question as it appears! Short and sweet, but full of "wow"! LOL I would have to say "Fear" if I was really honest. All negative emotions actually stem from Fear. Fear of not knowing or understanding something can bring about, for example, situations of anger, racism, prejudice, etc. etc. There are some things in my life in particular that confound me. I don't know why I have them, but I have what appear to be "unjustified" fears of a few things, which to others can sound strange......two of which are driving a vehicle (I told you it was weird!) and of wasps. Did I perish in a horrific automobile accident after being viciously stung by hundreds of wasps in a previous lifetime?? Whatever the reasons, for no obvious ones, I have acute fear of these two things. I've had to live my life around them, by choosing not to drive (I did drive for 3 years and had my own car, many years ago. It was so difficult for me that I finally sold my car and never drove again.) So out of choice, I don't have the personal independence I may have had with my own wheels. And during summer I am so uncomfortable outdoors if I see any evidence of wasps, that I will stay inside as much as possible. Fear is also a factor in another emotional issue I have... confrontation. I have never, and may never, be good with confrontation. I tend to always be the one in the crowd who wants to make everything all right, be the mediator. If I so much as see two people arguing heatedly, my knees literally shake and I feel terrified that someone is going to get hurt. I don't understand it all....but I know it stems from Fear. Your question ended with how I would work on this. I have actually been trying to work on this one (confrontation) for several years now, and I'm a little better at it than I used to be. As far as the driving and wasp issues....heaven only knows what I can do about that ~ hypnosis?? The driving issue is a non-issue with me really, as I'm quite comfortable with that anyway. The wasp thing ~ good grief I wish I could do something about that one! See, you may have learned some new things about me today, afterall! LOL

Well that's it folks.....I hope it wasn't too long and drawn out, but I wanted to answer the questions as clearly as I could so you would perhaps gain some new understanding of what I'm about! I now invite you all to take part in this interview process as well, so that I may get to know you better too. If you are interested, here are the details:

1) Leave me a comment saying interview me please.
2) I will respond by asking you five questions. ( not the same as you see here.)
3) You will update your blog/site with the interview questions.
4) You will include this explanation and offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5) When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Wow, this took me awhile, I admit! But it was interesting to do, and Vickie, you are really making me think, and bringing me out of my shell a little....so thank you once again for this opportunity!

Okay I am off to start my TerrorTwins of the Laundry Room ~ and some more clean up around here. I want to wish you all an excellent weekend ~ for some of us here in Canada it is the August 1st. Long Weekend. It's not a statutory holiday only a Civic holiday.....so not everyone gets it. Luckily for me, my company gives us this Monday off with pay! So whether or not your weekend is a long one, have a really great one, please take care of each other and yourselves. Until next time, PEACE to you and yours!

WHAT'S FOR SUPPER??

Is it just me?? Most of the time when it's time to eat, I just can't figure out what the heck I want. Is this a "getting older" thing? I've been choosing what I want to eat for 53 years, so now I'm running out of ideas, or what?

Here's the scenario: my stomach gurgles and lurches around inside me, or I start getting a headache, until my brain finally picks up on the fact that if I don't eat soon, I could (*gasp and God forbid*) loose some poundage or worse yet, perish. Once in awhile, I'll already have a "hankering" for something specific to fit the bill, but most times, I wander into my kitchen and then start the frustrating Dance of The Hungry. I start by opening my fridge, and stare at all the ingredients in there. That doesn't work, no inspiration there, so I start opening my kitchen cupboards, and stare at the ingredients in them. Then follows a huge sigh, and more grumbling from my stomach. (the closer it gets to the food, the more it feels the need to be fed ~ kinda like when you're out somewhere and you really gotta pee bad ~ the closer you get to home and your toilet, the worse your bladder feels the need to be emptied) What is that sheeite, anyway?? Must be a scientific explanation to that or something.... or maybe it's all psychological.

Anyway, the cupboards didn't work, so now on to the freezer.....maybe there's something in there that will jump out at me and say "eat me! eat me!" Nope, that didn't work either, so back to square one, and start all over again with the fridge. Does this only happen to me??

My biggest complaint with all this is that all I have in my house are INGREDIENTS. Nothing already made up and sitting on a plate, to be only pulled out of the fridge and unwrapped to be eaten. You know, like you see on television or in movies. Those people all seem to keep meals on plates in their fridges. Not me though.......nuh uh.....I only have ingredients, which means I have to COOK something if I wanna eat. Pffftt!! Well I'm too lazy to do that a lot of the time. I don't wanna be Chef Boyardee, I just wanna EAT!

I think one of the things I would do if I was rich is hire myself a personal chef. They could live-in too, and maybe double as a chauffeur and pool guy/gal. I don't care, just so long as they cook all my meals for me ~ nice and healthy, but delicious too. That way I don't have to make decisions, I only have to eat the damn stuff, you know? When my stomach says "EAT. NOW.".....I just have to ring my little dinner bell (cuz when you're rich you always have those, right?) and my personal chef will stop cleaning the pool and run right into the kitchen to make magic for me. Sounds reasonable enough, right?

*Sigh* Well, as I'm not rich and don't own a pool or employ a personal chef, I guess I'm off to stare in my fridge for awhile. I figure if you stare at the ingredients long enough, they'll eventually get creeped out and make themselves into something useful to eat. Times like this is when I say "Toast sounds good......" I can make toast better than any chef anyway. Lord knows I've enough practise. Light peanut butter on low-carb toast, anyone??

Hope you all have a tasty dinner tonight, and until next time, take care of each other, and PEACE to you!

FROM YOUR HEART TO MINE...

Well! Looks like I won't be able to chew on that side of my mouth for about a month..... *rolls eyes*, as I need another crown done on the tooth that "fell off". My dentist, Dr. I.L. Drillya, took impressions of my mouth today. Next appointment is August 12th. for gawd's sake, and then 2 weeks after that until I get the final crown. Not to mention, crowns aren't "esthetic", they are necessary to save the tooth ~ and yet Insurance companies will only cover 50% on the best plans. So.......I am going to have to pay over $400 for this out of my own cobwebby bank account! BLEH!!

I cannot believe that the horror of bombings is happening all over again in London. How can a human being gladly take another's life?? I cannot understand an abuser's mind, let alone a killer's. I pray for the safety of Londoners, and for all mankind, for protection from those who would harm them. God please help us all.....some of us know not what we do, and in Your name.

Now this is interesting. From Victoria's Blog (see my sidebar) where she did this, and invited us to answer it for her, and then post it on our own blogs so she could answer it for us, and have others do the same. I have to admit, I loved doing it for her, but it felt funny somehow posting it here for you to answer for me (especially as some of the questions are a little "different", lol)......however, as I enjoyed doing it for her, I'm hoping you will all have the same fun with it here. You'll have to copy/paste it into my comments and type in your answers there. Have fun with it, and please consider posting this yourself if you have a blog, so that I may answer the questions for you!!! :) So, this one's for you, Vickie!!

1. What is your name?
2. Are we friends?
3. When and how did we meet?
4. Do you have a crush on me?
5. Would you kiss me?
6. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.
7. Describe me in one word.
8. What was your first impression?
9. Do you still think that way about me now?
10. What reminds you of me?
11. If you could give me anything what would it be?
12. How well do you know me?
13. When’s the last time you saw me?
14. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn’t?
15. Are you going to put this on your blog and see what I say about you?

It's going to be a hot sucker here today peeps, so of course I left it until today to get my laundry done. *rolls eyes once again* It's such fun to haul loads out of a hot dryer when you're already overheated, lol As Bugs Bunny would say......."WHAT A MAROON!!!" LOL Have a safe and happy weekend everyone, and please remember to take good care of each other. Until next time, PEACE to you!

IN TODAY'S NEWS......

Image hosted by Photobucket.comCanada has officially become the 4th. nation in the world to embrace same sex marriage laws!!! It was finally passed by our Senate late last night. There were some hold-outs, including the not so popular Premier of my province of Alberta. However I am happy to say the hold-outs will now have no choice but to bow down to the progress of human rights! You can read about it HERE. You all know by now how fiercely strong I feel about this issue, and how passionate my posts about this subject can be. This makes me ecstatically happy, people! And this also makes me one very, very proud Canadian. OH, CANADA!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

And in other news, it seems we may step out of time with our U.S. neighbours, which could cause a whole whackload of problems. You can read about this HERE. If the U.S. does go ahead and change their daylight savings time by a couple of months, it will throw many industries out of sync between our two countries. Personally I cannot see how Canada will have any choice but to follow suit if we want to try to nip a bunch of confusion in the bud! We'll have to wait and see how this all unfolds.

And that, peeps, is a fraction of what will be a part of history in the making for Wednesday, July 20, 2005. And I'd like to thank all of you for being a part of my blogging time here ~ holy crap I just noticed this morning what number my hit counter is sitting at on this blog, good grief when did this happen!!?? Anyway today is Hump Day, and my last day at work for the week. I leave you all with a wish for an excellent day and remember to take good care of each other! PEACE!

GOOD KARMA

A friend of mine, Ruth, sent this, it is the Dali Lama's Instructions For Life for 2005. It is definitely worth sharing.......

1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risks.

2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

3. Follow the 3 R's:
* Respect for self
* Respect for others
* Responsibility for all your actions

4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.

6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great relationship.

7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

8. Spend some time alone every day.

9. Open arms to change, but don't let go of your values.

10.Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

11.Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.

12.A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.

13.In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.

14.Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.

15.Be gentle with the earth.

16.Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.

17.Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.

18.Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

19.Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.

Lots of wonderful things to aspire to live up to!

So I phoned my dentist from work this morning, and discovered that he is booked SOLID, not one open appointment for the whole week. And then he's away on holidays next week. So.....I have to sit in his waiting room until he can put me in a chair to do a quick temporary fix with this tooth of mine. I've opted to wait until my first day off (Thursday) to do this, as they can't schedule around me at work when we don't have a clue how many hours I may be waiting in there. At least it doesn't hurt or anything...it's just really sharp and is hurting my tongue.

Had a good day at work today, my feet are killing me though, as we were really crazy busy (being a Monday) and I hardly got to sit down. Hopefully it'll be a bit saner tomorrow, lol. I hope you all have a good week ahead of you, try to remember at least one or two of the above Instructions For Life, it may make all the difference in the world for you! Take good care of each other and may PEACE be yours!

ANYBODY SEEN MY MOLAR, MY COMMENTS, AND MY EMAILS??

So it was a different kind of weekend for me as I had to work today (Saturday), and now it feels weird that tomorrow is Sunday and then I'm back to work already. It was busy today, and it went by fairly quickly, especially the half-hour lunches we had to do as we were busy with not a lot of staff. I worked in the cashroom today, which was only the second time in there in about 5 weeks. It was nice, and it really reminded me just how much busier and more "intricately involved" it all is in there compared to out front. Anyway I'm good to work out front now, now that I've gotten over the initial shock.

I came home from work an hour and a half ago, and started having a bite to eat. Suddenly there is a tooth in amongst the food I'm chewing in my mouth, and horror of all horrors, I discover that one of my molars just sheared right off at the gumline!! What's left is a little piece up above the gumline that is really sharp, and if I'm not careful I can see myself cutting the side of my tongue on it. So I phoned my boss at home and left her a message, just to warn her that I'm going to have to try to get an emergency visit in to my dentist on Monday. At least it doesn't hurt, YET , anyway........as that tooth had a root canal done on it not long ago. It had a crown on it, now the whole thing is gone. Not sure what he'll have to do to save what's left of the tooth for me....... yikes it doesn't bear thinking about right now either! I'm also unsure how much of anything I'm going to be able to EAT until it's fixed. OY.

Anybody out there know lots about Outlook Express email?? I was moving some emails I had saved into new folders to keep, and accidentally lost a folder. I've tried every which way to see if I can find it, did a search and everything, but to no avail. Can you get back emails you accidentally lose??

Every single comment I made last night, on every single blog I commented on, has vanished into thin air. And Charlie made a comment on mine, I read it and replied to it even, and both his comment and my reply are gone. Weird huh? Come on Haloscan, can you fix it please???? Not to mention that my gravatar isn't showing up anywhere either. Sheesh!

I know it's a rather uneventful post peeps, but that's my 2 cents worth for this time! I hope you're all having an excellent weekend wherever you happen to be ~ take good care of each other, and until next time, PEACE to you!

BODY PART POST!!

OH yeah, it's been far, far too long peeps. I haven't regaled you with tales of my old parts for awhile now, so it's TIME. Buahahah! Listen, it might not get too bad.......I'm only wanting to talk about my feet. But hey, don't expect any promises, okie dokie?

Man I have to tell ya, being on my feet all day at work now has been hard on them. But I'm finding more opportunities to sit now and then even for a few minutes, than the first few days, so it's better. Then, I was on them constantly for 2 days in a row the first week, and it took almost 3 weeks to recuperate. My one foot especially, I could hardly walk on it and forget trying to flex it. Could that foot be older than the other one? Maybe it formed long before the other one in my mother's womb?? I don't pretend to understand these things. All I know is, that one gives me the most trouble lately, and with ALL my aches and pains, it's mostly from my bones and joints just getting O.L.D.

Funny thing about my feet.....they are linked up to my neck. Well okay, in an indirect way they are.....I mean I'm all one body, right? It all started with my feet really, and now my neck is killing me too. I think it's from standing at the counter at work, which is WAY too high for me, trying to use the keyboard which ........well okay it doesn't really reach my nose but it feels like it. The old National Geographic boobies of mine pretty much rest on that counter. So I think I'm doing something funny with my shoulders while I'm typing way up there, and that in turn is making my neck really sore. I'm having a hard time shoulder checking in either direction now. And hell I don't even drive. My neck bone is old too. I think the spine does form first, doesn't it?? It probably IS older than the rest of my bones. Anyway it goes without saying that I can't wait to have more ergonomically correct work stations in the new office. One month and one week till we move. And I'll be able to use a sit-down counter. These old bones of mine will be grateful! Except I have to walk twice as far to work then, so that'll be harder on my feet. ....can I win here? OY!

Speaking of my big ol' sagging boobies.....I guess I'd really look out of proportion if they hadn't gained weight along with the rest of me. Take my butt, for instance. Please. It would look even bigger, along with my belly, if I didn't have bigger kajungas, don't you think? Ever noticed why I call myself the Hippie Chick.....and not Hippy? Not only is it a sore spot with me to see my rear in the mirror, but spelling Hippy is just too close to HippO. But I digress..... my caboose would look even bigger if I had the sunny side up eggs for ta ta's. So in actual fact, I guess I'm well proportioned. Hey maybe that means I have a nice figure afterall huh? Nice, just.......bigger. Which kinda sucks when you're vertically challenged like I am. If I was say, 5'8" tall, my weight wouldn't look too bad. But on a 5'2" frame, I don't look all that much different naked than a sumo wrestler.

Well.....okay maybe I have better hair and I don't stand so funny ~ even at the high counter at work. Oh and my undies are prettier too. And I smile more than this sourpuss does.

All in all I'm really just having some jocularity but when it comes to my old bones......that's real. It's hard to be young inside an older body. Still, I'm happy with who I am so that's what counts.

There, that wasn't so bad was it?? I know you've missed hearing about my body parts and I just like to keep you up to date now and then. Next time: the wrath of the jiggly upper arms and why doesn't my chin stop doubling?

I'm off tomorrow as I'm working this Saturday instead. Holy crap I just checked the weather channel, and I think I'm moving to the North Pole. By Monday and Tuesday next week we're supposed to be over 30 degrees C. That's almost 90 degrees F. and I don't wanna hear about it from you people in Phoenix, or the deep south, LOL! If I wanted to have that kind of heat I'd move there, but up here, that's abnormally hot ~ even though we do get it now and then in the summer. Average temps here in the summer would probably range more around high 70's maybe? I don't know. Just another getting older thing I guess......can't worship the sun like I used to!

Oh and really bad news....the very day after I posted the link for you to check out the hilarious blog of Jay the New Dad, he posted that he's going to be shutting down his blog. He's leaving it up for a bit yet, and has links to some of his funny posts....so if you haven't read it yet, go take a gander, it's really, really worth it! His wife's blog is still going and she hasn't mentioned anything yet about shutting hers down. It's no wonder though, they are new parents to twins so I'm sure they don't have a lot of time on their hands now. I'll miss ya Jay!

Before I leave you tonight, here's a funny sent to me by my buddy Debs:

A nurse walks into a bank. Preparing to endorse a check, she pulls a rectal thermometer out of her pocket and tries to write with it. She looks up at the teller, pauses for a moment, then realizing her mistake, she says, "Well, that's great....just great! Some asshole's got my pen!"

I wish you all a fabulous week, and until next time, PEACE be yours! Take care of each other!

THE HIPPIE CHICK'S MEME !

When I started my Def Leppard concert in Edmonton Countdown clock (in my sidebar) it was set at 105 days. Now it's already at 43!! Holy crap that's a long time that I've been waiting so far.....and now it's just over a month and I'll be giggly with joy just seeing and listening to this great band do their thing ~ which is play terrific tunes! WooHoo! Having said that......crap I still gotta wait awhile.....LOL Thank God for all the other Leppy fans from the States who have been going to their concerts there and posting pics and reviews. What can I say? I've been living life vicariously through all of them. I know that some of you who read my blog and aren't Def Leppard fans may get tired of hearing about this band, and that's ok..... but you have to understand that not only do I love this band with all my heart and soul, they also stand for something in my life. I got through a horrific couple of years 10 years ago listening to their music, when it was about the only stuff I could listen to that didn't hurt. This band's own story of ups and downs, deaths, accidents etc. did it for me ~ they are all best of mates still after going on 30 yrs. of doing what they do, and to me they stand for perseverance, tenacity and strength. I knew if they could do it, so could I. That may sound silly, but when you are in such a dark place that you just want to die, you hang on tight to what works for you, and this band did it for me in a lot of ways. Not to mention friends, family, and my faith. Okay......geez that all sounds so profound, which it is, but enough of that, let's move on!

I have been very busy adding some terrific new blog links to my sidebar this weekend. The first one is a lovely lady named Victoria whose blog is all about Life Is Good, and I visit her blog daily, as I do all of the links on my sidebar. Welcome Vickie! (It was through my friend Xavier that I found this lady, so thanks bunches, Xavier my man!)

Now these next two are absolutely hilarious!!! This is a couple who just went to the hospital and came home with 2 more people in their family ~ TWINS! Needless to say, I'm sure they are both exhausted, yet you will find when you read their blogs that they have not given up their sense of humour. These are a very, very funny read ~ if you don't go there I'll have to beat on you! They are Jay (tired new dad) and his wife, Yasmine (tired new mom). It was through my buddy Debs that I found these two. Thanks Debbers!! All 3 of these blogs are well worth the read and like I said, I go to all of my bloglinks on a daily basis. Enjoy!!

Okay I said this post entry was a "meme theme" so here it is....compliments of Cristie! (thanks!)

What Was I Doing 10 Years Ago?: Unfortunately, trying to cope with becoming newly widowed.

What Was I Doing 5 Years Ago?: Laughing at everyone who thought the world was supposed to come to an end.

What Was I Doing 1 Year Ago?: Not suspecting I was about to become an avid blogger!

What Was I Doing Yesterday?: House cleaning and laundry!

5 Snacks I Enjoy: cheddar cheese and crackers, popcorn, chocolate covered raisins, watermelon, potato chips.

5 Songs I Know All The Words To: Most Def Leppard songs, lots of Christmas carols, oh crap this is too broad a question!!

5 Things I'd Do With $100 Million: Give a whole whack of it to all my family members, travel to the U.K. and NYC after I take a train from west to east coast (Canada), give to my favourite charities, quit work, do some volunteer work. Oh, and did I mention shopping???? :)

5 Locations I'd Love To Run Away To: England, NYC, Maui, Canada's east coast, Canada's west coast.

5 Bad Habits I Have: Smoking, not eating enought fruits and veggies, cussin', laziness, worry too much.

5 Things I Like Doing: Being with friends/family, napping, blogging, reading, watching movies.

5 Things I'd Never Wear: Well this has changed since I got pleasantly plump. Now, I'd never wear mini skirts, belly baring clothing, spiked heels, anything bra-less, short-shorts. ALL THE THINGS I USED TO WEAR!! :(

5 TV Shows I Like: Have to be general here as I don't watch as much TV as I used to.... some home renovating shows, some cooking shows, Most Haunted, and some TV movies.

5 Favourite Toys: Computer, DVD player, TV, digital camera, um.... my shredder???

5 Biggest Joys Of The Moment: My faith, my family, my friends, the people I work with, Def Leppard.

There ya have it, and thanks again to Cristie for this one! Geez who'da thunk these things could be so hard to do!! LOL I would like to challenge my readers to do this one, or a similar one. I'd love to read yours and I'll be watching for any of them, ok?? (complete with wagging tail of anticipation.... LOL)

Today I'm doing the usual Sunday grocery run with sister Pammie, and we'll stop somewhere for a bite of brunch first, as always. For us smokers, eating out just got less comfortable a week ago when this city went to a Non-Smoking Bylaw, in any public place. It's been that way for a long time now, but they just included bars, lounges and bingo halls. So us smokers would go to lounges when we went out for a bite. Now, when Pam and I go, we eat and run, as any of you who are/were smokers you know that after a meal a ciggie craving is at it's worst. One day I hope to kick this habit. Enough said. So it'll be a busy day and thankfully it's only going to be in the lower 70's today ~~ however that's about to change as it gets to hight 80's in a couple of days. UGH! Heatstroke here we come.... BLEH!

I'm off and running peeps, so I'll wish you all an excellent week and we'll catch up again soon. Take care of each other, and PEACE be yours!

Wow! Look at all this food! Oh boy! So much food, so little time! Oh boy! Whew! All this excitement.....is really....tiring.....zzzzzzzz....

I love the kitten on the radiator, LOL! And I thought only horses had locking kneecaps for sleeping standing up!! ROTFLMAO!! Hoooo boy, too cute!!

It's been a big day for my Terror Twins of the laundry room, they've been washing and spinning as I've been puttzing around the house doing other stuff. Hubby is outside as usual, working on our new sidewalk. This is gonna take awhile!! So much to be done. Of course as he's working with roadcrush and sand, every time he comes in and out of the house he leaves dirty, sandy trails all over the place. Can't be helped and I don't complain, I just keep cleaning!!

It smells soooo good in here ~ I make these little spray bottles of scented sprays for either air fresheners or linen sprays. They're great for bedding and stuff. Anyway every time I strip the bed and put clean sheets on, I spray our pillows and sheets with my Lavender spray ~ and I just did that. I keep wandering into the bedroom just to sniff, lol. Lavender, being a calming scent (aromatherapy) is a great one for the boudoir, don'tcha know. Yeah, so I'm CALM at night while I can't get to sleep! Muahahaha!! Ah man, I crack myself up.......

Anyway chicks and dudes it's about time I got myself back down to the laundry room again, so I'm going to leave you with A) a hope that you all have an excellent weekend, B) a request for you to take care of each other, and C) a prayer and a wish for World Peace.....oh do I pray for this!! To all our brothers and sisters in London, and around the world, stay safe and know we are praying for you and your loved ones who are in need. Blessings to all of you!

OUT OF THE MOUTHS OF BABES

I just got these pictures in my email from a friend (thanks Jenina!) and I SIMPLY HAD TO share them with you all, they're so cute! I've captioned them up for you just to make it even more interesting......

>Why Mothers Need Eyes In The Back Of Their Heads

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
I'm getting awfully tired of just milk, milk, milk from the tittie, Mom! Hey, is that pizza and beer I see?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Geez Mom even Ruffie gets cooler stuff to eat than I do!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Well it was either HER or the walls, Mom! (oh-oh, Mom's got that look that says it's time for me to go for a nap. A LONG one.)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Whoa!! I came outta THAT???

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Mom? Why are you gagging??? Mom??

That last one almost made me hurl!!! And, I wonder how long it took to get the black felt pen off of that baby? Yikes.

It's 1:00 a.m. I went to bed 2 hours ago, just nodded off and the hubby started the pig-snorting thing again. I tried to get sleepy again.....anyway here I am once again, sitting up when I should be asleep. SIGH. Oh well so what if I have to be up at 5:45 ~~ FIVE FORTY FIVE!!!! That's less than 5 hours away, man! I'd better get this done and then try to sleep fast.

I hope all my North American friends had a great long weekend ~ whether Maple Leafers or Stars and Stripers, we all celebrated our nations birthdays this weekend. This post is toast, and I'm heading off to bed again. Take care of each other, and PEACE be yours!

And here is a really juicy little tidbit into what it's like to be Canadian. Check out Jay's blog, a fellow Canuk and a lady with a wicked sense of humour! Please take the time to read the link "Proud Canadian" that appears at the very beginning of her post on Canada Day, you won't regret it, it's well written, hilarious, and it really will give you a humourous insight into being Canadian. **NOTE ALL THE "U"'s IN HUMOUROUS!** And welcome Jay, you're linked on my sidebar!

As I am typing this, I am watching Live8 on TV. What an awesome thing. Just like 20 years ago with LiveAid, today's Live8 is much the same ~ inspiring the world (and in particular, world leaders) to awareness of Africa's plight. Every 3 seconds a child dies from poverty. I'm in NO way a political person, but hey I'm really into the human race in a huge way. I want world peace. I want an end to racism and prejudice, including changing same-sex marriage laws. And, I would like to see the bigger world powers do what they can about the poverty in the world's poorest nation, Africa. If they can do anything about it, then they surely SHOULD get it done. Live8 is about awareness, not asking for money. Enough said. I am finding it awesome to watch. And of course, I am hoping to spot our beloved Def Leppard when they go on stage to do their part for it all. I've got my tape ready to go in the VCR!

**Update** I've watched the Canadian Live8 channel and there was no hint of the Lepps, however lots of other great performers. A very moving day, to be sure. Let's hope and pray that the purpose of the whole thing comes to fruition. God bless the needy.

That wraps up today peeps, and I hope everyone is enjoying a happy and safe holiday weekend! Take care of each other, love one another ~ and for us all, PEACE!
