STICKS AND STONES (and Sidewalk Bricks)

Today is my last day of holidays before I trudge back to work, and I'm so bummed about it. I know most people are the same about going back. It wasn't the usual holiday for me to say the least, but I'm grateful for having the time away, nonetheless. I just wish I could have caught up more on some much needed sleep. However, it's not all bad, and one of these days I'll be able to say to you all...."My house is mine again!" LOL

Thanks to my dear friend Vicky, I got myself a good belly laugh when she sent me this. Thanks Vickytoria!

A family is at the dinner table. The son asks his father,
"Dad, how many kinds of boobies are there?
The father, surprised, answers, "Well, son, there's three
kinds of breasts.
In her twenties, a women's breasts are like melons, round
and firm.
In her thirties to forties, they are like pears, still nice
but hanging a bit. After fifty, they are like onions. Onions?" "Yes, you see them
and they make you cry."

This infuriated his wife and daughter so the daughter said,
"Mum, how many kinds of 'willies' are there?"
The mother, surprised, smiles and answers, "Well dear, a man
goes through three phases. In his twenties, his willy is like an
oak tree, mighty and hard. In his thirties and forties, it is a
birch, flexible but reliable. After his fifties, it is like a
Christmas tree."

"A Christmas tree?"
"Yes, dead from the root up and the balls are for decoration
only."

Okay, the window guy showed up Tuesday, he's like an inspector/fixer for the company, I guess. And so far I'm not crabby. He did replace the glass on our kitchen windows, like they originally said they'd have to. He inspected every little thing on every single window, and holy crap, they're actually replacing a whole ton of handles as they were marked up badly when installed. Also, he's replacing several screens, which we complained didn't fit right. He actually found more than we even saw. Good guy, I like him. So it could be awhile yet before they're actually back to do it all, but at least we know it'll be done.

Lexy, you guys were lucky everything was done right the first time I guess.

Anyway I'm a happy camper so far.

And many moons ago, I promised you guys before/after pictures of the very first project started here; our sidewalk. I can't include the front step which was also ripped out (totally caving in) as so far this year all we're going to have is still the temporary plywood one hubby built. The brick one he'll do next year.

THE OLD AND TIRED FRONT WALK
Oh and the old windows too!

Holy crap I can tell I had just cut his hair too, his ponytail is so SHORT.

Goes up the side of the house to the back, and curves off to the right to the front door. New windows too! Hmmm cloudy day today.....

And the ever so pretty scaffolding.

What I REALLY can't wait for is to show you the "after" pics of my living room/dining room.

Well peeps I'm off to get some laundry done, and enjoy my LAST DAY OF HOLIDAYS!! Be good to each other and I'll be back soon!

2 KINDS OF FALL

Hubby is trying his hardest again to make me divorce him.....
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
DON'T "FALL" HONEY!!
He's started tearing down the rest of the "already broken" walls, and I snapped this pic of the dirty deed. Grrrrr..... However, he since got waylaid and is now cursing and swearing trying to install the first of 3 brand new light fixtures we bought for the front hall area. Hmmmm, methinks I'd best just stay clear for awhile. Oh, and don't you just love the way I still have no living room? Yes, that IS my living room. I haven't seen my furniture (still piled up and covered with drop-cloths) since.....we got our windows done. Holy crap that's almost 2 months! HONEY!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of windows. It's been about 7 weeks since they were installed, and we've got some issues with a couple of them. Plus, when they were installing them, they noticed a couple that were going to need replacing. Well, today they are coming out to do "fixing". We'll see if they actually fix the stuff WE complained about a couple weeks after we had them. If things go all right, I'll be satisfied. If they don't, I'm going to be one very vocal lady.

Lexy, how did yours turn out? Are you happy with the windows, and the service?

Anyway I'll let you know how it all went. I hate being crabby so they better do good by us. We surely gave them enough friggin' money, I'll tell ya.

But on a much happier note, here is what the two new ceiling fixtures look like, now that they're finally installed. There's a wall sconce going up too that coordinates with these 2, but it won't go up until there's a.....wall.......to put it on.

PRETTY HUH? PICKED IT OUT MYSELF. WELL OKAY, HUBBY HELPED.

Hmmm, maybe I should have taken this during the daytime. Oh well, you get the picture, so to speak. It's a very dark brown colour with a white frosted glass shade that has a swirly pattern you can't see in this picture. Very schwanky, if I do say so myself.

The colours are starting to get extremely beautiful outside, I just adore the beauty and cooler, crisp air this time of year. I LOVE IT!

MY FAVOURITE SEASON, "FALL"!

You can sure tell that this whole summer our lawns have been totally neglected. No time for them, it's been all about the house.

Wouldn't you know it, it's just a couple days away from my having to go back to work.....and suddenly the last couple nights I can't sleep worth a shit! Here it is 3 a.m. and just like the last 2 nights, I'm wide awake. I think it's because my holidays are ending...... and I have to say they haven't been very restful at all anyway. Can we speed up the calendar to NEXT September now? Please??

Well chicks and dudes, it's time to call this post done. Be kind and take care of each other, and have a great week ~~ PEACE!

DIFFERENT KINDS OF ASSES

A lady from work sent me this (thanks Brenda!) and I know for sure that my friend Debs will like this one, as she's always cracking me up by doing these when we chat online:

We all know those cute little computer symbols called "emoticons," where: :) means a smile and :( is a frown. Sometimes these are represented by :-) and :-( respectively.

Well, how about some "ass - icons"? Here goes:
(_!_) a regular ass
(__!__) a fat ass
(!) a tight ass
(_*_) a sore ass
{_!_} a swishy ass
(_o_) an ass hole
(_x_) kiss my ass
(_zzz_) a tired ass
(_E=mc2_) a smart ass
(_$_) Money coming out of his ass
(_?_) Dumb Ass

You have just been e-mooned!

Guess what I've just started getting done already?? Wrapping Christmas prezzies!! These are the ones that I'm sending out of town, along with a couple of birthday prezzies for birthdays that are coming up before Christmas. **wink** I like to get started around this time of year. The only things left to put in the boxes I'm sending out are the home-made things I'll be making.(probably scented soaps and bath salts) I love doing this stuff! I should have my own business where I make bath products and sell stones, crystals and herbs....and meditational/relaxation music. Oh, and incense and candles, homemade of course. Sigh. I would love that. (the hippie chick in me) but hey I need to MAKE a living.

On the homefront, well it's Sunday night, hubby is continuing with the dreaded renovations and sister Pammie is back to work tomorrow. We had last week off together and though the week started out sucking big-time, the last few days we went out shopping and doing fun sister stuff. I'll miss her now, as I don't go back to work until Thursday. But it was fun, thanks Pammie! **smoochies and hugs**

I wish you all a fabulous week ahead, stay safe and take care of each other.

PEACE!

BODY PART POST!! (NOT MINE THIS TIME)

On Thursday sister Pammie and I went to Sears to do some clothes shopping. As I mentioned earlier, I had about $145 in Sears points to spend and both Pammie and I are sick to death of wearing the same 3 things to work week after week..... Well!!! Not only did we actually find some great stuff, but it was all marked down in price! WOO HOO! And the most exciting thing of all, I acually REALLY LIKE the stuff I got, it's not just the "okay it'll do" scenario that I often find happens when I shop for clothing. I got 5 new tops and a pair of bottoms, and 2 bras. (the second one for $5!!) Now I just wanna wear all my new stuff! At the same time! LOL!! So yay for Pammie and Jude, we are pleasantly surprised and greatly pleased.

Oh, and speaking of clothing.....

RETIRED HOOTERS

Hey! Did they sculpt those fake hooters from MINE when I was sleeping??? Hmmm there's something about this that reminds me of National Pornographic Geographic...

Okay, Jude's singing voice......**ahem!**
"Do your boobs hang low, do they wobble to and fro, can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow, can you throw them over your shoulder like a ......" well, you get the drift. Thanks to my boss and friend Renata for sending me that one!

A few people so far have taken the "7 Question Tag" and run with it, and it's great to read their answers. Hop on board peeps, it's fun stuff for all of us who get to read your answers!

And to my best friend Michele......HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you get spoiled rotten today chicky, you sure do deserve it! I love you Pal.

Good grief, with Texas being hit by another hurricane, that same hurricane is also starting to re-flood some of New Orleans! Prayers, prayers, prayers..... stay safe, everyone, and take good care of each other!

WALMART.....FOR MUCH MORE THAN JUST BATTERIES!

Is this already happening in the U.S., and us Canadians have been living a sheltered life?? Walmart is now going into the sex-toy and accessory trade!! Apparently, you'll be able to purchase vibrators and other accessories (??) and lotions and things that promote a fun sex life. Good heavens. And the owners of Love Shops here in Edmonton are up in arms saying (literally) that Walmart makes tons of money on other stuff, why can't they leave them alone. Truly! I read this in the paper here this past weekend. Pretty soon we'll be able to buy our batteries AND a vibrator to put them in, all at WalMart!

And in other news, same newspaper ~~ I am copying this little joke to share with you:

DRIVING WITH CARE

"A patrol cop has the pleasurable task of pulling over a good motorist to hand him a Safe Driving Award. He pulls over a vehicle travelling very carefully indeed.

'Congratulations', he says to the driver, 'I'm rewarding your safe-driving with a $5,000 award. What will you do with the money?'

The driver thinks for a minute and says, 'Well, I guess I'll go get a driver's license.'

'Don't pay any attention to him,' the lady in the passenger seat says. 'He's such a jerk when he's drunk and stoned!'

Pipes up the fella in the back seat: 'I told you guys we wouldn't get far in a stolen car!'

And at that very moment, a knock comes from the trunk. A muffled voice says, 'Are we over the border yet?"

Seems like it was the cop's lucky day huh?

Soooo.... nobody has noticed that I brought my font size up a few notches to make it even easier to read?? Geez. Like, who's paying attention here, peeps?? I seem to have so many readers who needed it bold, needed it darker, etc. (are you all getting old like me or what) so I figured I'd surprise you all with a L A R G E R font size too, and get all kinds of kudos or something. Huh. Not even a bite. Well fine then.

So, awhile ago I talked sister Pammie into taking a week of her holidays during my time off, so we could have some sister excursions, and some fun. Well this week has turned out so far to SUCK for that, and with the gas guys and plumbing guys and electricians all needing to be all over the house making messes and tons of noise, she's been pretty much up here with me, the both of us stuck in this little room of mine I call a den, with the TV and computer. Us and her two sweet little doggies. (we can't leave them in their home downstairs with all that mess and horrendous noise going on around them) Trying to just stay out of the way. BUT!! Today we are going out shopping!! Or....at least, "browsing"! We're headed to Ikea to look around, Pammie needs new living room furniture, as she hasn't any at all right now. When we had our windows replaced, that was her only opportunity to get her monstrosity of an over-sized sectional sofa taken out of here, through the open hole where her window was being replaced. We both need desperately to get some new clothes too, so maybe tomorrow we'll head over to Sears, where I have over $100 in Sears points. So today will be fun for a change, dammit!!

And once again, I've been remiss in welcoming newcomers to my blog. Man.....I forget stuff so easily I write myself sticky notes all over the place. Then I forget to read my sticky notes. There have been a couple of newcomers but one I've already plugged in a post here, and that was Orion. Welcome Orion! And a couple very new additions, starting with Melanie. Mel is another Lepp fan, and a sweetheart. She's even got some Leppy tunes playing over there. How cool is that!

And Cristie, a sweet little thang with the most beautiful colours on her blog, I must say. Every time I open her page I feel like it's spring in my house. Welcome Cristie and Mel, it's great having you here, along with the rest of my Beautiful People, my bloggin' buddies.

Time to head out with Pammie, so have a great Hump Day everyone, and take care of each other ~~ I'm asking the Universe to please take care of everyone down south in the path of yet ANOTHER hurricane. Stay safe everyone!

PEACE,
Love Jude

GETTING OLDER, AND GAS PROBLEMS

THIS kind of gas.......

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
And in my wallet, I have a sum total of SFA

Thanks to my friend Terri (you sweetie, you) I have this funny to share with you all. I've added some of my own touches here too. Now pay attention, this is insightful and useful information for.....when you get older like me and hubby are. LOL

LOVE MAKING TIPS FOR SENIORS

1. Put on your glasses and double check that your partner is actually in bed with you.
2. Set timer for 3 minutes in case you doze off in the middle. Turn the volume down on the timer first though, you don't need heart failure.
3. Set the mood with lighting. Turn them all off so that wrinkles, pouches and paunches are invisible.
4. Make sure you have 911 on your speed dial before you begin.
5. Throw out those old condoms in the bedside table. Your spermatoza is as old as YOU are, you know, and her eggs got fried years ago.
6. Write partner's name on your hand in case you can't remember. Write YOUR name on the other hand so you will know if your partner is fantasizing about someone else.
7. Keep extra Polygrip close by so your teeth don't end up under the bed.... or if you get past 3 minutes, stuck embarrassingly to some body part.
8. Have Tylenol ready in case you actually complete the act. Oh, and some Aspirin for heart therapy.
9. Make all the noise you want. Your partner AND your old neighbours are all deaf too.
10. If it works, call everyone with the good news.
11. Don't even THINK about trying it twice.
12. Have a much needed nap, you STUD!!!

Okay, (hiding my Polygrip and Aspirin away) I hope you all learned something, and copy/paste that one for later on.

I'm off to bed folks, it's late and the plumber AND gas guys are here in the morning. Have a great Tuesday and be kind to each other ~~ PEACE!

WELCOME TO MY.......HOME?

Huh.

This is why I'm stressin' even on my holidays. This is at the front door landing. Remember those pics of my lovely new front door from awhile ago? It had all that lovely INTACT wall around it? Hmmm?

It looks like this all around my living room window too.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
THE AFTERMATH OF THE DREADED ELECTRICIAN.

I didn't like him, and you can see why. Except when at the end he finally gave me POWER back in my bathroom again. WITH a bathroom dimmer switch, oh yeah.
It was only like, 6 weeks or something without power in there.

You want to renovate? Don't do it. Unless you are filthy rich and can move out for awhile. Like, to a country spa.

Hey Lexy, you get your place all cleaned up yet? You poor soul......

After these.........walls........are made into walls again, then we need to paint. Whaddya think? Will I have a living room to put my Christmas Tree in? If not, I'll REALLY be bitchy. Gotta have my Christmas, dammit.

I sure miss my walls.........

On another topic (yes please, Jude) over at
Tracey's Blog, she has borrowed a wonderful idea off of our Miss Vickie over at Always Victoria; whereby we can pick a blog that we like and post a link for it on ours, describing why we think you will enjoy it, so that readers like you can go check it out. It's called "Linky Love", and the biggest reason behind it is to spread the friendship from one friend to a new one. So I'm going to post my first one, and guess who it is?? Oh yes, it's Tracey's blog, LOL!! So if you click on the above link, you'll be heading on over to say "howdy, woman" to her. I love this lady. She's personable, warm and friendly as hell. I almost think of her as one of those "mother earth" types who would take anybody in just cuz she's got a heart bigger'n Ontario. Or Texas, for all you "Amarcans", LOL (forgive me but that's exactly what it sounds like when some of you say it) Trace my friend, thank you, and Vickie, for this idea. I hope you don't go getting all blush-faced embarassed cuz I have chosen you this time.

I'm also going to choose a SECOND ONE, because this guy is a new blogger and hasn't yet gotten all the traffic over there he deserves. Can this guy write!! A lot of you may recognize his name from blog comments he's been leaving all over, he's a friendly, witty, and caring soul, who also happens to enjoy the shit out of keeping unsuspecting innocents like me on my toes. **wink** This guy is a rough and tough firefighter macho he-man sort.......but he's really got a heart as big as......well, just like Trace. Mozy on over and say "Jude sent me, here I am!" to
Orion and have a hoot reading some of his funny stuff. Oh yeah and before he gets all on my case, read his serious stuff too. It's all good.

Next time.... the great lady who started Linky Love.

I hope you're all having a great weekend, wherever you may be. Take care of each other, and until next time....PEACE!

HAPPY BLOG BIRTHDAY!!!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Pour yourself a cup of coffee and get comfy, this is longer than normal peeps! (Xavier, make it "Gevalia" blend for yourself, dear man) ;)

One year ago today, while on holidays at home, I made my very first post on this blog. It's been a groovy ride, too. I started out with a total of 4 blogging buddies, Lors, Debs (My Debbers), Janna (my NooYawk Sista) and Danni....all huge Def Leppard fans like myself, that I met and became friends with on Lors' website Savage Attitude, the BEST Lepp site that there is. If I remember correctly, Lors got herself a blog, then Debs, and Danni and Janna followed. I then decided what the heck, it looked like fun.....and voila!

Very quickly I started checking out some of the links on their blogs, mostly other Lepp fans, and started getting to know some of those people; and then other links to non-Lepp fans but terrific people none-the-less, LOL. It has certainly grown, and sometimes I find it difficult to get to everyone's blogs daily. I check my friend's blogs daily, sometimes more than once a day depending on time. I have my family, and my group of close friends here where I live. And a couple of years ago (2?...3?) I found a new Lepp family online as well.

In the last year of blogging, I have gathered around me a new family of friends, all of YOU. And I can honestly say that I treasure these friendships and would hate to lose them. You guys all rock, and I am honoured to know you.

So, what has happened in the past year on this blog, and it's links?

~~I've spent countless nights at the computer as hubby keeps me awake with his snoring, blogging about it.
~~I've shared a few revealing "body part" posts. (Oh pipe down, you know you love those)
~~I hit the 10 year milestone of dealing with Menopause. Enough already.
~~Karen has conquered her breast cancer, just having had reconstructive surgery.
~~I have endured 2 root canals. OY!
~~Debs and her Greg watched their son Andy be deployed with his fellow troops overseas and are seriously wanting him back home --- to stay!
~~Janna has moved from her Manhattan apartment to a new home on Long Island, and left long-time employment to go on to better things. Talk about life changes, Sista!
~~I have gone through a terrifying job position change. All turned out well.
~~Lors has been extremely ill, and is just now starting the long road to recovery. Scared the bejeezis out of all of us.
~~Tracey has moved. Twice. Double OY!
~~Danni girl finally got pregnant, and is due next month!
~~Patty and Rhonda tried in vain to find me at the recent Lepp concert here, and I missed a chance to meet these two great ladies. Bummed me right out, man.
~~Peach (Nancy) and her hubby are slowly climbing the list for becoming adoptive parents. Soon she'll be a Mom!
~~Got through the first anniversary of my Mom's death.
~~Rich and Justin went on a long-anticipated trip to Paris, and sent me my first European postcard.
~~Michael's career as an artist is becoming a reality. (he's good, too!)
~~I got scammed with an online friendship by "Kurt". Several others did too. That one hurt.
~~Charlie took me on my first online tours of Australia, in his neighbourhood. They drive on the wrong side of the road, dammit! LOL
~~The Mystical Madame Gyspy Judles was born....and then went on a loooong holiday.
~~Xavier's white-winged angel became Pope.... for one post, anyway.
~~Kate's beloved dog Elliott got lost, but found again. Whew!
~~I shared with my readers some of the spiritual side of my life with some stories.
~~Kim took at least a gazillion Leppy concert pictures and entertained all of us who were still waiting for our turn to go. Thanks Kim!
~~I finally went to my first symphony....I love classical music, the Masters.
~~The Complimenting Commenter came into our lives, and enriched us.
~~The dreaded renovations began at my........well, what is left of my house. Argh.
~~Lex got HER windows replaced too! Damn brave woman, is all I can say. AND... the "RatBastard" was born!!!
~~Lisa has been coping with the terrible illness of her father-in-law.
~~Vince, a musician and funny guy, introduced us to his wacky and loving relationship with The Wife.
~~I got my first ever buttroid. And hopefully my LAST. Youch!
~~Jay, another fellow Canadian, explained to the world why pantyhose suck. You go, girl!
~~Victoria became a wonderful friend (thanks to our mutual friend and dear man Xavier)
~~Orion became a regular visitor and has taught us a whole new way to write the story Little Red Riding Hood.
~~A horrible, devastating tsumami killed so many.
~~Canada changed her laws to include same-sex marriage. About damn time!
~~Katrina happended, and the world is still working hard to help.....

There are many other events, too many to mention, and other bloggers who I have met and enjoyed online bantering with....Lisa, Debbie, Kim, Mona, Terri, Van....if I've forgotten anyone it's only because I am truly, truly mentalpausal, please forgive me!

Also, I've shared many, many things with you all, but there's a couple of things that I loved so damn much that I'm going to share them again:

First, for those of you who have no clue what a hot flash feels like, this is it!
Just watch this, and wait a sec....

Hey, that's ME on that damn wire, people!!!!!

And this song just cracked me up!!! I just listened to it again and it still brings forth a good ol' belly laugh ~~ enjoy!
THE MAN SONG!

Oh yes, it's been quite the blogging year, and after over 9,000 hits on here (holy crap) I can say I've had a real hoot. I didn't know when I began this if it would be something I'd be doing this long, and as far as I can tell, you're gonna be stuck with me for awhile yet.

And OMG can you believe it......even the Mystical Madame Gypsy Judles has come back for the one-year celebration and given us something to ponder on!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
......Another Horrorscope by Madame Gypsy Judles....
"For the next 48 hours, the stars favour Virgos and Cancers; the latter because they are suck-ups most of the time. After the Mars cusp moves into Venus tomorrow, Leos and Capricorns will be feeling restless. This is because nobody will like you for the next week or so. But once Mars moves on you'll be the life of the party again. That, and when you finally do something about that bad breath you are all so famous for.
For Aquarians, now is the perfect time to take that long-anticipated road trip. If you are an Aries, this is the time that accidents will find you, so in particular be wary on the road of Aquarian drivers. Everyone knows they are reckless drivers and are too vain to wear their glasses. Because of Mars moving into Venus, those horny Scorpios will be strutting their stuff, so all other signs should be wary of them; watch out for the drooling, maniac-eyed perverts or we could be in for another damn baby-boom.
All people with a birthday today love sushi and are peeping toms".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks for all your guesses as to what today is....... it was fun to read them. It doesn't surprise me in the least that my Sista Janna guessed it correctly. Congrats to you darling friend! (you know me so well, LOL)

~~~~~~~~~~
So this marks the end of this, my last post before the Blog Birthday is a reality... which is in about 20 minutes. Thank you, all of you, for coming here to visit and enjoy the friendship. I've enjoyed getting to know each one of you ~ you've all made my life a lot richer. And certainly a lot more FUN. I love you guys!
Have a wonderful weekend, take good care of each other, we're all we've got. PEACE to you and yours!
AN INTERESTING HISTORY LESSON
It seems that autumn has come early to Edmonton this year, and you know what? That is just fine by me! The leaves are starting to turn beautiful colours on some of the trees, and the days are cooler. Actually, it's a LOT cooler than it should be this time of year here, but you know me.....I love cooler weather. Anytime I can escape the heat I'm *happy*.
A friend of mine sent me this and it's so interesting that I thought I'd post it to share with all of you. I've seen this before many, many years ago. Enjoy ~~~
Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.
Now it gets really weird.
Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.
Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln' made by 'Ford.'
Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a
theater.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
And here's the kicker...
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
Creepy huh?
Stuff like this just intrigues the sheeit out of me, and it makes me think of even bigger things like, how did they actually build Stonehenge?
The homefront renovations are still ongoing. And I'm still hating every minute of it. My house is such a mess inside AND out, and there's nothing I can do about it. **SIGH** I'm trying now to come to terms with the fact that there will be no peace for me this vacation time at home, nor will it be all finished before I have to go back to work. That really sucks, but I'll live.....
To date so far: The new front sidewalk is done. The roof shingling is done on the house. Garage will happen......later? What still has to be done, and probably in this order: An electrician is needed to come in and do major work. Putting in the new front door and new (bigger) front window, 3 different electrical outlets had to be moved, and there are just holes in the walls and capped electrical wires waiting to be placed elsewhere. Also he will have to rewire our bathroom. I haven't had electricity in there for over a month now. We need a plumber as well as electrican as hubby wants heat and more electricity in the garage. (a man-thing) We need to have our soffits, facia and eavestroughing replaced. We need to have the front of the house bricked. We need a new front step. We need to have someone with a bobcat come and haul away a few loads of dirt/old lawn from where hubby dug out a new sidewalk out front. And hubby has to get back to work before we're in the poorhouse.
NO WONDER I'M STRESSED! LOL!
Okay I'm off to figure out what I'm making for dinner, and then check out blogs. Be good to each other and take care. ~~~ PEACE ~~~
STANDING BESIDE YOU
None of this happened on Canada's doorstep, but it did happen in our backyard, where our southern friends congregate.
Four years after 9-11 and I send my best wishes and prayers to those families affected. God bless them and all those in need in the Gulf States, and everywhere. Please know you are all in Canadian hearts and thoughts....
PLUMBERS, PAINTERS, PIZZA AND PRAYERS
Are you ready for this?? The roof shingling is DONE! Well okay, except for the tiny little porch roof over the front door. Good job hubby! Now hurry the hell up and get the electrician in here, and then the painter, so I can have my **##@@ house back! Thanks honey. You wouldn't want to foot the bill for the psychiatry center now, would ya?
Is it really LEGAL for electricians to charge $54 an hour???? And this guy is cheaper than some others hubby has called! I'm not looking forward to when we have to get a plumber and a painter in too! Man are we in the wrong biz or what.
A LOT of prayers are being said in my household. I'm kneeling to pray beside billions of other people for those unfortunates in the wake of Katrina. And I've also added to my list a few other blogger friends. Rhonda Elizabeth's mom, who is having surgery, and Lisa's father-in-law, who is battling ill health and not doing very well again. Also, Lisa (the Sidekick) who is bravely facing surgery of her own here very soon. Karen, who has been putting up the good fight with breast cancer, and is just about done with it, after recent reconstruction surgery. Hang in there sweetie!! And of course, my friend Lors, who had surgery a month ago and has been going through some terrifying times during her recovery. And for Mona, because I don't know where she is or what happened to her.... she was supposed to be back from holidays almost a month ago now. (could be I'm just paranoid these days) My prayers and heartfelt good wishes continue to go out for these people who have become my good online friends. They are all in my sidebar links, if anyone wishes to extend hugs to them. My silly home renovation woes are just that, silly ~~ compared to what so many others are facing. I love you guys, I just like to vent and share my stories, ya know? I honestly do count my blessings on a daily basis!
Another funny for you, this time again from my friend Tina. Thanks girlfriend!
IF MY BODY WAS A CAR
If my body was a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull, but that's not the worst of it.
My fenders are too wide to be considered stylish. They were once as sleek as a little MG; now they look more like my old Buick.
My seat cushions have split open at the seams. My seats are sagging.
Seat belts? I gave up all belts when Krispy Cremes opened up a shop in
my neighborhood!
Air bag's? Forget it. The only bags I have these days are under my eyes. Not counting the saddlebags, of course.
I have soooooo many miles on my odometer. Sure, I've been many places and seen many things, but when's the last time an appraiser factored life experiences against depreciation?
My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close.
My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.
It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently.
But here's the worst of it -almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter..... either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!!!
As I'm typing this I am munching on my leftover pizza from last night. Pizza 73, double mushroom with pepperoni. Yummers. Oh and a tall glass of half skim moo and half soymilk. But I better get my ass (and the rest of me if I wanna see where I'm going, lol) back down to the Terror Twins of the Laundry Room. A woman's woik is nevah done! Even when she's on holidays. **winky wink** Have a great weekend everyone, please take good care of each other, and here's wishing for PEACE for you all.......
I CAN'T DECIDE WHO TO MURDER, HUBBY OR MY DENTIST
These antibiotics are making me sick. Last night hubby asked me what I had under my eyes. It was just dark rings. I felt nauseous after dinner. Had to sip on gingerale and took a Tums. I'm still waking up with a sore tooth once the Ibuprofin wears off in the night. To my Dr. I.L. Drillya ~~~ WTF do you mean, "it won't hurt after"??????? Dentists are all sadists, I'm sure of it now. Today I'm not taking any more of those nasty antibiotics and we'll see. If it gets worse again, I'm screwed. PRAY FOR MY TOOTH OKAY? Thanks.
Thanks to my friend Roxy for sending me this funny:
What Religion is Your Bra?
A man walked into the ladies department of a Macy's and shyly walked up to the woman behind the counter and said, "I'd like to buy a bra for my wife. What type of bra?" asked the clerk. Type?" inquires the man, "There's more than one type? Look around," said the saleslady, as she showed a sea of bras in every shape, size, color and material imaginable.
Actually, even with all of this variety, there are really only four types of bras to choose from. Relieved, the man asked about the types. The saleslady replied: There are the Catholic, the Salvation Army, the Presbyterian, and the Baptist types. Which one would you prefer?
Now totally befuddled, the man asked about the differences between them. The Saleslady responded, "It is all really quite simple...
The Catholic type supports the masses. The Salvation Army type lifts the fallen, The Presbyterian type keeps them staunch and upright, and The Baptist makes mountains out of mole hills.
Have you ever wondered why A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, G, and H are the letters used to define bra sizes? If you have wondered why, but couldn't figure out what the letters stood for, it is about time you became informed!
(A} Almost Boobs... {B} Barely there. {C} Can't Complain! {D} Dang! {DD} Double dang! {E} Enormous! {F} Fake. {G} Get a Reduction. {H} Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up !
They forgot the German bra.
Holtzemfromfloppen!
Through the last handful of years, I seem to have become one of those ladies who have to wear the "Salvation Army" type of bra, and I've gone from a lifetime of "Can't Complain" to "Dang!" Hey, they need men's ginchies to be categorized by "cup" size, don't you think? It's only fair afterall. They could be categorized by the same bra letters:
A cup - "Ah, thanks but no thanks"
B cup - "Better than 'A', I'll have some thanks!"
C cup - "Cute weenie ya got there!"
D cup - "Do me, baby!"
DD cup - "Double Dog Dare Ya to put THAT up there!!"
E cup - "EEEEEK!!" **runs for her life**
Well, it's only my opinion, but men should have to be sized with their underwear too. Then us women can hang out in the men's ginchie section and follow the men home who buy the D cup, LOL!
Hubby is up on the roof hammering away again. Probably no nap again today for this chick. Good thing I don't have to get up early for work right now. If any of you out there are thinking of doing home renovations..............sell the house and buy a new one. Well, okay that's a bit harsh, especially seeing as we opted not to cuz we love our neighbourhood. But you still won't want to go there unless you have a pretty strong relationship. Or at least a good sense of humour. I think that's what's keeping me from the looney bin. I JUST WANT MY HOUSE AND PEACE & QUIET BACK!!
Okay peeps I think this post is toast...... have a great week and take good care of each other. PEACE to you and yours!
LOVE THAT POTTY HUMOUR!
Hi folks, I thought I'd share a funny with you, thanks to my cuz Brian for this one!
THE OUTHOUSE
Ma was in the kitchen fiddling around when she hollers out
....."Pa, You need to go out and fix the outhouse!".
Pa replies, "There ain't nuthin wrong with the outhouse."
...Ma yells back, "Yes there is, now git out there and fix it.".
So.....Pa mosies out to the house, looks around and yells back, "Ma
There ain't nuthin wrong with the outhouse! ".
Ma replies, "Stick yur head in the hole!". Pa yells back, "I ain't stickin my head in that hole!"
Ma says, "Ya have to stick yur head in the hole to see what to fix.".
So with that, Pa sticks his head in the hole, looks around and yells back,
"Ma There ain't nuthin wrong with this outhouse!"
...Ma hollers back, "Now take your head out of the hole!".
Pa proceeds to pull his head out of the hole, then starts yelling,
"Ma Help! My beard is stuck in the cracks in the toilet seat!"
...To which Ma replies,...... "Hurt's, don't it!
I hope everyone had a safe long weekend! It's been fairly quiet around here the last two days as hubby was off working elsewhere....but today he's back at hammering shingles over my head with a vengeance. OY. I'm happy it's getting done, but the noise, confusion, and mess are starting to get to me....... watch for me in your local Hotel du la Rubber Room. And I've been fighting the pain from the damn root canal I got on Friday, so that's wearin' me down too. But all that being said, I am so grateful that I live where I do, out of the way of hurricanes, earthquakes, and floods ~~ and for all that I do have. I am very blessed and I give thanks for that.
As I type this, I'm watching the water being pumped out of New Orleans on CNN, and kudos to the great job the Army Core of Engineers is doing! I can't believe the amount of water, it's gallons and gallons per second, and it's been going already for 12 hours! The city is still as much flooded as it was, so that boggles my mind just how much water there is....... and they've already found e-coli in the water, I can only imagine what else is in it.
I am enjoying my holidays, as I am basically a home-body and I like being home. Don't get me wrong, I like to get out with family and friends, and even travel a little (not that I have done any travelling since......oh, 1989!!), but I do enjoy my home, my little comfort zone. I'm hoping to get lots of extra rest, naps and generally just R&R while I'm on vacation.
Take good care of each other my friends, and be good to yourself..... God bless those in need....... ~~~~~PEACE~~~~~
